There is no such thing as “later”

Yesterday, I had a drink while chatting sweetly with my cat –
that was just the kind of mood we were in.
So, he purred to me that there’s no such thing as “later.”
There’s only “here and now,” “now and here.”

Cats have known this wisdom for ages:
if you’re calm, the whole world is kind to you.
And it’s beautiful just to stare out the window
and warm yourself in the sun when it shines through.

What’s inside the boxes? A secret.
What’s in the bowl? Delicious food.
If you’re hungry – eat.
If you’re tired – go nap.
Don’t put life off for “later.”

If thoughts come – wash your face and rinse them away.
And the ninth life?
Just the ninth one.
Kind of like the fifth… or the seventh.

I thought for a moment and asked,
“But still… in the end, doesn’t everything come to an end?”
The cat yawned lazily,
flicked his tail with no real care,
grooming the fur on his belly…
And I remembered – there is no such thing as “later.”
