A Point of View
I often hear from photographers that during the photo shoots, models express their point of view, give advice or disagree with photographers’ opinion. Of course, when it comes to commercial photo shoots, it’s a common practice to fulfill customer wishes. Another thing is an art photo shoot.
In my practice, I also faced highly active models who were trying to introduce their ideas to the photo shoot. I eagerly accept such initiative. Sometimes, it’s very appropriate, and sometimes, it’s annoying, especially when the model’s telling you which part of her face is “working”, and which is not.
Anyway, I run my photo shoot in such a way that the model feels comfortable working with me. At the same time, I let them know that I’m the boss and it’s up to me to decide how to photograph. I see the model from the outside, I see how beautiful she looks taking this or that pose, etc.
